Glanville

3D Studio

Transforming the 3D modelling & visualisation experience across the construction industry

Launching 3D Studio

3D Studio specialises in generating 3D models using point cloud data to support Glanville’s multi-discipline service offering, clients and other industry professionals. Modelling and visualisation captures ‘as built’ information and can be applied to what has not yet been built, supporting the planning and design stages of a project.

Key benefits modelling and visualisation offer include:

Our Specialisms

Laser scanning & point cloud

arrow flip box
Capture detailed 3D measurements of objects and environments using LiDAR. Scanned data is used to calculate precise distances and create accurate representations of the scanned area, resulting in a 3D point cloud. This cloud is a collection of data points that represent the exact geometry and spatial relationships of the scanned surfaces. Detailed and accurate spatial information is crucial for applications in construction, planning and design.

Photogrammetry & digital imagery

Capture, measure and interpret detailed images, transforming them into precise digital representations of physical objects and environments.

Through the analysis of multiple overlapping photographs taken from various angles, photogrammetry meticulously calculates the exact positions and dimensions of objects, facilitating the creation of detailed and accurate 3D models and reconstructions.

Scan-to-BIM

arrow flip box
A process that converts 3D laser scans or photogrammetric data into Building Information Models (BIM).

This involves the capture of an accurate as-built condition of a structure or environment using laser scanning or other 3D imaging techniques, creating a detailed point cloud. The cloud data is then processed and translated into a BIM, which is a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of the facility.

2D to 3D conversions

2D to 3D conversions entail converting plan drawings or images into 3D models.

This process takes the 2.5D information held within plan data and develops this to the 3D model.

Asset tagging

arrow flip box
Asset tagging involves affixing identification tags to physical assets for tracking, management and monitoring purposes.

Within the 3D model, these physical assets can be tagged to enable automated synchronisation, offering comprehensive digital records and streamlining asset management processes.

Visualisation

arrow flip box
Visualisation involves creating visual representations of concepts or physical objects to enhance understanding and communication.

This encompasses imagery, videos, walkthroughs and animations. This service can broaden the possibilities of a project allowing anyone involved to understand the full scope of works, manage expectations and communicate the works efficiently through visual representations.

BIM modelling

arrow flip box
BIM (Building Information Modelling) is the process of creating and managing digital representations of physical and functional characteristics of buildings and infrastructure.

These models integrate geometry, spatial relationships and detailed building information into a single, coherent system. BIM brings together organised data from various fields, creating a complete digital version of a projects journey.

Flythrough animation

arrow flip box
Flythrough animation is a video simulation, enabling viewers to virtually navigate a 3D environment or model. It offers a dynamic perspective, smoothly moving through and around a space to highlight the proposal.

These animations can be utilised in presentations and marketing to provide clients and stakeholders with an immersive preview of a project before its construction.

Real-time rendering

arrow flip box
Real-time rendering is the process of generating 3D images instantly. Its advantage lies in users’ ability to interact with the render as it unfolds.

Typically associated with interactive 3D computer graphics or 3D environments in video games.

Verified views

arrow flip box
Verified views are precise visual depictions of proposed developments, formed by merging 3D models with photographs of existing sites.

These images serve in planning and consultation, showcasing the projected impact of a project on its surroundings.

Project cloud hosting

arrow flip box
Project cloud hosting entails storing and overseeing project data and resources on cloud-based servers.

This service allows team members and clients to access and collaborate on projects, enhancing scalability and flexibility while ensuring project information remains current. It can form a platform where by all project data can be held and overlaid.

Virtual Reality

arrow flip box
Virtual Reality (VR) is an immersive technology that replicates a user’s presence in a digital environment. By utilising VR headsets and interactive controls, users can navigate and engage with 3D models and simulations, experiencing them as if they were physically present.

VR offers a transformative experience, enabling users to interact with virtual worlds, explore diverse scenarios, and engage in realistic simulations.

Informing every aspect of the project lifecycle

Models become the foundation for information management throughout the lifecycle of a project, whether new-build or refurb.

Embrace innovation to transform business

Utilising ‘game technology’, we have the capability to construct a lifelike 3D setting for any project, complete with textures, figures, surroundings and animations.
