Glanville was involved in this project from 2003 to its completion in 2011. The scheme involved improvements to an existing 1960s shopping centre and redevelopment of part of the site. The scheme included a social club, a new ASDA superstore, a library, council offices and retail units. As part of the overall scheme, Glanville designed major changes to the local road network, including a new bus interchange. The value of the main works was approximately £40 million, with the off-site highways works alone costing in excess of £2 million.
The project required ground improvement, piled foundations, new steel framed structures, alterations to the existing concrete framed structures and removal of existing concrete footbridges. The shopping centre remained operational throughout the works and access had to be maintained at all times.
