Every year Glanville employees take part in a survey to gather their thoughts and experiences on what it’s like to be part of Team Glanville. The annual Employee Voice survey is completed in confidence and allows the staff to express their very honest views on a various areas like rewards, the office, communication, strategy, appraisals and careers.
The survey has three very clear objectives:
The 2020 survey also included a section on COVID-19 to understand how the team viewed Glanville’s response to the pandemic; a section on inclusivity; and one on diversity.
An overview of the survey responses was shared with the team at a virtual company meeting. Following a welcome and introduction from MD Howard Gell, director John Birch led everyone though the key findings whilst staff enjoyed the tea and biscuits sent to everyone by Glanville.
In almost all areas of the Employee Voice section of the survey there was an improvement in the results compared with the 2019 survey, with some areas showing a significant improvement of more than 20 percentage points. Overall, the results showed a high level of engagement across the business.
The results also highlighted some areas for improvement, which the Employee Voice Action Plan team will be addressing. The EVAP team is a working group of volunteers from across the business that is tasked with implementing actions arising from the feedback and it is testament to their excellent work in 2020 that the positive survey responses were higher than in 2019.
The directors were delighted to hear that an overwhelming 86% of staff felt that the firm had dealt with the COVID situation well. Even though no one had faced a challenge like COVID before, the directors have tried to do the right thing as a business throughout the pandemic and it was particularly pleasing to them to receive such positive feedback.
Staff then had the opportunity to ask questions of the directors.
