Glanville deliver on exciting regional expansion plans

Engineering, Design and Surveying consultants, Glanville, have opened two new offices in Bristol and Cambridge, delivering on planned regional expansion.

Bristol Expansion:

The Bristol office, located in the historic Generator Building at Finzel’s Reach, is led by Anthony (Tony) Jones. Tony Jones joined Glanville as a Technical Director in the company’s expanding Transport Planning department in the first quarter of 2023. Tony’s wealth of knowledge and experience in the Transport Planning sector strengthens Glanville’s position in the Southwest region.

Speaking shortly after the opening of the Bristol office, Tony Jones noted how appropriate the Generator Building is for Glanville’s new regional base. “We are in a Grade II listed property that once powered Bristol’s electric tram system. Today, balancing public, electric, and active travel is central to the evolution of transport planning, and it’s influence over the region’s development strategy.”

Why Bristol? Tony explained… “Well, it is the largest City in the Southwest and within convenient distance of Devon, Cornwall, Dorset, Wiltshire, and Hampshire as well as Wales. Bristol is also the only city outside London to make a positive net contribution to the Exchequer.”

Cambridge Expansion

Junaid Farooq, Structural Engineering Director, is heading up Glanville’s new Cambridge office. The office, located in Vision Park, Cambridge will be the hub for the company’s growing volume of projects in the East of England. Junaid has been with Glanville for over 10 years, where he’s seen a rapid career trajectory taking him to Board level.

Junaid will continue to build and develop the diverse range of projects that Glanville are already engaged in within the Cambridge region. This includes notable ventures in various sectors, including science parks, as well as other areas of significance.

Junaid Farooq expressed his delight at the recent announcement of Glanville’s new office in Cambridge, emphasizing the company’s satisfaction in finding a well-suited workspace in the area. “Cambridge provides us with an excellent base to be involved in the many exciting development projects planned for the East of the country over the next few years. It’s an area we’ve worked in extensively over the years but from our head office in Hemel Hempstead. Opening a Cambridge office was a conscious strategic objective to build on our commitment to this region and aligns with Glanville’s growth strategy”.

Junaid explained that Cambridge is one of the fastest growing cities in the UK and home to some of the UK’s largest companies. The establishment of our office in Cambridge has expanded our geographical presence, enabling us to enhance our service offerings for our valued clients in the region. This development significantly improves our ability to cater to the needs of our existing key client in the area, ensuring an enhanced level of service and support.

Junaid now has plans to recruit an associate director in the area to assist him with the company’s expansion in Cambridge. Glanville are looking for an individual that has experience in the Cambridge region and will relish getting stuck into the exciting opportunities.

Regional expansion in the Southwest and East England regions underpins Glanville’s growth ambitions and makes clear their intent to be a key player in these crucial development areas as net contributors to the UK economy.

Managing Director of Glanville, Tim Foxall, commented “We are excited to expand our geographical reach and develop our regional capabilities in the Southwest and East of England.  Whilst we are mindful of the current economic situation, we see this growth as achievable and sustainable. Having recently celebrated our 50th anniversary, Glanville will take the wealth of experience gained through our 50 years of sustained industry
