Glanville Consultants provided Civil and Structural Engineering services for this new build project where the building provided high end retail units at basement and ground floor level with commercial space at first floor level. The upper floors of the building were designed to cater for the residential accommodation required in the area.
The project was challenging as the basement excavation was next to a busy road and a contiguous piled foundation solution was used for the basement walls. The construction of the basement and ground floor level was carried out in a reinforced concrete frame structure whilst the remaining 5 floors were built using a steel frame and composite deck construction.
The construction period for the building was 18 months and was completed in September 2019.
