Way back in the mid 2000s, Glanville were appointed to carry out the structural and civil design for a mixture of commercial & residential use at Regatta Quay, Ipswich.
Recession struck part way through the project and part of the development stood as empty shell for several years, earning the nickname ‘The Winerack’ by locals due to its distinctive appearance.
Fast forward 5 years and Glanville were re-appointed to see out their design of the 20 storey frame under a new architect/project manager (Ingleton Wood).
One main element of the work was regularly surveying & reporting on the condition of the exposed frame until works started, as well as overseeing materials testing to confirm it was still fit for purpose.
One of our key tasks was to review changes in the structure required by new building regulations and internal layouts as well as working with the supplier on the innovative ‘car stacker’ lifting system for the car park.
Now in 2020 ‘The Winerack’ (as it has become officially known) project is in the final stage of completion and taking on purchasers! Main contractor, R G Carter, have produced a video of the development of the project.
