Glanville provided pre-planning and detailed design Civil and Structural Engineering services for this state of the art Porsche Dealership and showroom at Peartree Business Centre. The building was taken forward in two phases with the construction of a new car park to serve the existing business park and to enable development of the Porsche Centre Bournemouth on land that straddled green-field and former car parking area.
The Civil Engineering design challenges included the diversion of an existing large box culvert which had been laid at a shallow depth and the provision of a new drainage system incorporating a Sustainable Drainage System, hydraulically designed and modelled to reduce flood risk and to mimic pre-development runoff rates with additional resilience measures included – to cope with future climate change. Careful consideration of site levels was necessary to manage a variety of constraints including existing trees root areas, culverts, varying site topography, ground water constraints and tie-ins to existing features.
The surfacing engineering works comprised extensive asphalt and block paved area, required to withstand HGV service loading and tracking while a higher specification finish to the front of house and retail area included the use of nature stone setts and paving.
The new Porsche Centre Bournemouth will open its doors later this year following a 2-year construction period. Contract Value £12m
