Glanville continues to work closely with the Environment Agency in support of its surveying and flood mapping activities.Projects have included extensive channel surveys, flood plain mapping and the establishment of Global Positioning System (GPS) derived benchmarks and threshold levels. As experts on the approved EA specification for flood and channel related surveys, Glanville is well positioned to provide a wide range of clients with robust survey data for flood mapping and risk assessment purposes.
Glanville surveyed the extensive grounds of Waddesdon Manor, one of the National Trust's flagship sites, to map and position all the ground features including trees. This data was used to create a full arboricultural database and associated GIS of tree size, species, condition and age.
Glanville has been mapping sections of the Park and Gardens since 2004 and we have delivered a range of maps and plans in support of the Royal Landscape’s GIS database and on-site improvements. The surveys are all related to the Ordnance Survey grid thus ensuring a homogeneous dataset that can be supplemented and updated with ease.
Fourteen kilometres of the Letcombe Brook and associated channels were mapped through Wantage and nearby villages for flood modelling and prediction. Approximately 180 cross sections were surveyed to Environment Agency specifications with data provided in both CAD and ASCII file formats.
