Thank you for 24 years of service
At Glanville we are very proud of the fact that so many of our team stay with us for such long periods of time.
We value the knowledge and experience that these ‘stalwarts of the industry’ bring, and the wisdom they happily share with those at an earlier stage of their careers, particularly trainees and graduates.
Last month, we bade farewell to one of these great assets to Team Glanville.
Peter Whitehead joined Glanville in 1997, already an experienced Civil Engineer, and for 24 years played a crucial role in our Transport team until he retired at the end of May 2021.
Peter joined the team to help expand our transport planning capabilities at a time when Transport Assessments and Travel Plans were in their infancy.
Over the years, Peter’s experience has been instrumental in expanding our transport and highways services. Peter has played in key role to support Glanville’s involvement in the field of traffic and transport engineering. This included transport planning, travel management, junction and network capacity analysis, highway design, public transport infrastructure improvements, road safety audits, and the specialist investigation of the influence of highway design, maintenance, and construction on road traffic accidents. The result being that our Transport team is now the largest team in our Didcot office by workload.
John Birch, Glanville Director, paid tribute to Peter;
“Alongside Peter’s technical expertise that has helped deliver countless projects successfully over the last two decades, Peter has also been an invaluable mentor and sponsor to staff undertaking their professional reviews for Chartered membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers. I’d like to thank Peter for his hard work and commitment over the last 24 years and wish him a very long and happy retirement with his wife Wendy.”
Of course, no send-off is complete without a good party! The team enjoyed woodfired pizzas and beer whilst chatting about the changes Peter has seen within Glanville and the wider construction sector.
Once a Civil Engineer, always a Civil Engineer, Peter will be keeping his hand in the construction game with new Lego Creator projects to build during his retirement!
