Land Surveyor – Hertfordshire Office (Hemel Hempstead) & Oxfordshire Office (Didcot)

The team is currently expanding with a requirement for a Land Surveyor. This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking for a wide variety of work and the reward of taking projects from start to finish. The Glanville ethos is very much to provide a balance of both field and office work with a real sense of project ownership.

This is a permanent position within our Land Surveying (Geomatics) team

We strive to ensure our surveyors are rounded in all aspects of the business and are not “pigeonholed” (unless they would like to specialise) and we fully support and encourage our surveyors through professional training and progression within the business.  The opportunity to progress is not restrictive to those with the right aptitude.  Glanville’s breadth of skills and experienced staff provide a supportive environment for surveyors to undertake varied and rewarding tasks and expand their knowledge and skills.

The successful candidate will be a positive, enthusiastic, and hard worker. In addition, the candidate must:

  • Be able to undertake a wide variety of surveys
  • Be safety aware
  • Be well versed in modern surveying equipment and software
  • Have very good attention to detail
  • Be flexible and reliable
  • Enjoy working in a team environment
  • Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Hold a clean driving licence


This team undertakes the following tasks 

  • A wide range of Measurement, Laser Scanning and Mapping
  • Topographical surveys
  • 3D laser scanning
  • Engineering setting out and dimensional control
  • Measured building surveys
  • Underground utility detection and mapping
  • Computer Assisted Drawing in 2D and 3D (CAD)
  • Photogrammetry
  • Boundary surveys
  • River surveys



  • Undertake surveys as directed by the Survey Director
  • Managing trainees within the team
  • Maintaining survey equipment
  • Office processing of survey data and the CAD drawing of surveys
  • Ensuring quality throughout the process
  • Produce the deliverables to the required specification and to budget
  • Liaise with the Survey Director at all stages of a project
  • Enhance and promote the image of Glanville Consultants by their actions
